On December 11, 2019 Wegmans Food Markets announced plans to construct a new full-service, regional distribution center (DC) in Hanover County, Va.
This is the first notice that most residents of Hanover County received, notifying them of the proposed project. The press release touted job creation and future store expansions in the state as benefits to the project, but residents have numerous concerns. To date, there have been no public hearings to talk about all the important considerations that go into such a massive project. Initial concerns focus mainly on:
Corporate Welfare
Property Values
Traffic
Noise
Environmental Impact
Appearance
Historical Preservation
Cultural Disturbance
Safety
Elsewhere on your site, I read that "The County Board of Supervisors indicated that Supervisors had been under a non-disclosure agreement."
Is that even legal? Does the Board work for the citizens of Hanover County or Wegmans? My god, the hubris of them!
